Shivsagar Lake

The primary attraction in Tapola is the Shivsagar Lake - a 90 km long water body infact the reservoir of the Koyna dam!! If you are a water sports enthusiast Tapola is the place to head to. Be it boating, water scooter rides, kayaking or swimming Tapola will certainly not make you feel confined.

 

Vasota

Tapola is the base camp for one of the most exhilarating treks that one can go for in Maharashtra. Vasota fort located with in the Koyna wild life sanctuary is completely cut off from civilization and can be reached only in a boat. The permit for the trek can be procured from Bamnoli one of the entry points to the Vasota trek. The Nageshwar temple is off the trek path to Vasota and is also worthy of a visit!

 

Kas Pathar

A unique biosphere Kas Pathar or Kas plateau is the valley of flowers of Maharashtra. After monsoons from August to November this vast plateau turns into a bed of flowers with more than 150 varieties of flowers. The Kas lake is also an ideal picnic spot. If you are visiting Tapola beween August to November 'Kas Pathar' is a must visit place during your Tapola holidays.

 

Pratapgad

Famous for Shivaji's legendary battle against Afzhal Khan in 1656, Pratapgad fort is under 30 Kms from Mahabaleshwar. One can drive right up to the base of the fort. The stairway up takes you to the upper fort of Pratapgad and affords some beautiful views of the valley. On the way to Pratapgad there is handicraft centre and metal craft exhibition worth a visit.
